Fashion Girls Won’t Stop Wearing This Cool Jean Trend

This year is far from bereft of exciting denim trends. From wide-leg silhouettes to flare jeans 2.0, there’s a handful of new and exciting options to play with this season. But one cool jean trend is rising above the rest right now. Yep, two-tone denim is reappearing for spring.

The two-tone styles sent down the S/S 20 runways ranged from upcycled styles pegged on sustainability (something the London-based brand ELV Denim has built its ethos around) to Gucci’s contrast panel design. It’s arguably the split-tone designs that feature contrasting hues down either side of the leg that are making the biggest appearance this season. While they’re potentially tricky to make work, the resulting effect is quite cool. Ahead, we’re taking note of all the ways fashion girls are styling the polarizing trend.

Kendall Jenner is no newbie to the two-tone denim scene. In fact, she’s been a fan of the micro-trend since at least 2016. It’s nice to see her embracing the updated take on the playful trend.

While there are plenty of color options, most of this season’s two-tone jeans consist of light-wash and dark-wash hues split straight down the middle.

An exact half-and-half contrasting color design isn’t the law of the land, however. Other two-tone options take a more Frankenstein approach to how they piece together separate denim hues.

Gigi had the same idea as Kendall when it came to her two-tone pick. The all-black yet contrasting-panel effect helps to make the trend look more intentional and less like a set of upcycled jeans.

Before you try to dress the trend up too much, take note of Naomi Anwer’s approach. She lets her pair of statement jeans speak for themselves by pairing them with trainers and a simple black tee.

For those ready to graduate from basic split-tone jeans, test out the trend with many other styles, from jumpsuits to skirt sets and everything in between.
